Why We're Called Weta
The weta is one of the world's most ancient insects, having survived unchanged for 190 million years. It thrives in the toughest environments, remains hidden until it needs to act, and is surprisingly formidable despite its size. It's also uniquely New Zealand.
We chose this name deliberately. Great security teams operate the same way: patient, thorough, deeply adapted to their environment, and decisive when it counts.
Started by its founder back in the late 90's during his time at Sun Microsystems, Weta Security has gone through several re-brandings as the technical landscape changed. Although we do also offer full-service penetration testing, Weta Security specialises in web site security testing and vulnerability assessment.
